Clinical Approach

My clinical work is informed by specialized training in the NeuroAffective Relational ModelĀ®(NARM), a cutting-edge, integrative framework for resolving complex, developmental, and relational trauma.

Drawing on this framework, I emphasize the following principles in my therapy practice:

  • Consent - You are the expert of your experience, and the guide for the direction we take in our work together. Our process is centered around your needs and desires, and no part of it will take place without your willingness.

  • Curiosity - Despite my background and training, I will never know you better than you know yourself. Similarly, I cannot know what is best for you in your journey of growth and healing. Instead I see our work as as a process of identifying what it is you truly desire for yourself, and what barriers have stood in the way of you more fully embodying it.

  • Holism - No individual can be defined by a diagnosis or collection of symptoms. I will never reduce your concerns to a singular label, skill, or explanation. I work with people, not diagnoses.

  • Non-Judgment - I am convinced that even your most destructive, painful, and shame-inducing patterns had a good reason for being there, even if they are now no longer serving you. Our work is not about rejecting these strategies, but instead resolving the underlying pain and vulnerability for which they evolved, such that they are no longer necessary. As such, I also seek to create a supportive therapeutic space regardless of race, cultural background, sexual / gender identity, religion, or immigration status.
